Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

This course is for you if you’re considering, or already working within, the construction and civil engineering industry.

To work on a construction site you will need to have a valid CSCS Green Card.

There are three stages to obtaining your CSCS card:

  • Complete this course, which leads to a fully accredited Level 1 award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This qualification is an essential part of your application for your CSCS card.

  • Go to a CITB Touch Screen Test centre to book your CITB HS&E test.

  • Once you have passed both of the above, apply for the card.

This course is completed online on a PC or a laptop.


On this course you will learn: 

·         The purpose of risk assessments

·         The importance of safe manual handling

·         Working safely at height

·         Risks to health

·         Working safely around plant and equipment


Following completion of the course you will need to take an exam which can be done online from your home or workplace. You and your screen will be recorded via webcam to ensure you complete the exam under regulated exam conditions. You will need to contact [email protected] to book your final exam. 72 hours notice is required.

Please note you will need a laptop or desktop with webcam to complete this course and exam, the exam CANNOT be completed on a mobile device or tablet.

02 Final Assessment

Once you have completed your course you will need to contact us at [email protected] to arrange a date for your exam.

The exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions and you will have 60 minutes to complete it. The pass mark is 80%.

You will receive your results within 24 hours (Monday to Thursday. Results for exams taken on a Friday will be received on the following Monday). Please note, AIM Awards can take up to 10 working days to generate your certificate however, it is available within 5 working days in most cases.
