Managing Electrical Safety - Live Overhead and Buried Power Lines (RoSPA)

Contact with power lines, and cables, can be lethal, whether they are carrying a voltage as high as 400,000 volts or as low as 11,000 volts. For this reason, knowledge of how to manage safe working practices with live overhead and buried power lines is absolutely vital. This course provides a short, but useful, introduction to protection against contact with live overhead power lines. The duration of this course is 20 minutes and can be completed over multiple sessions. Upon completion of this course, you should be able to: • Explain the precautions necessary for safe passage under overhead power lines • Describe the precautions necessary for work under overhead power lines • List the key controls that are necessary for preventing contact with underground services
